Wrinkles anyone?

Have you ever thought how do we get wrinkles? You are not alone!

Wrinkles are creases (folds and ridges) in the skin that naturally appear as we get older. They happen as the skin gets thinner, drier, and less elastic. The ability of the skin to protect itself from damage also diminishes over time, which can contribute to the formation of wrinkles (on face known as frown lines, crow's feet and so on).

Several factors can influence the development of wrinkles, including:

  • Age: Collagen and elastin, the fibres that give the skin its elasticity and firmness, decrease in production as you age, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles.
  • Sun exposure: Ultraviolet (UV) light breaks down the skin's collagen and elastin fibres— which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis). Without the supportive connective tissue, the skin loses strength and flexibility, leading to wrinkles.
  • Smoking: It can accelerate the aging process of the skin, contributing to wrinkles due to the reduction of blood supply to the skin.
  • Repeated facial expressions: Facial movements and expressions, like squinting or smiling, lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin.

Injectable wrinkle softening treatments:

Referred by many practitioners as botulinum toxin injections.  Botulinum toxin is injected, using a fine needle, into muscles to temporarily block the nerve signal, resulting in weakening of the muscle action which can result in an improvement in the appearance of wrinkles.  Generally well tolerated and effective wrinkles treatment. Can help to treat frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet lines. To maintain the desired effect injections need to be repeated every 4-6 month.

Please note, that medical consultation prior these treatment is required to assess suitability.

Fractional CO2 laser rejuvenation treatments:

Fractional CO2 laser is one of the modern ways to treat wide variety of aesthetic concerns including fine lines and wrinkles. It also can be used to improve pore size, texture and appearance of the skin. A course of 3 to 5 treatments is needed for best results

Soft tissue dermal fillers:

Soft tissue dermal fillers are another injectable treatments available to help to tackle stubborn lines. A wide variety of brands are available on the market, most of which consists of hyaluronic acid, a polymeric disaccharides which our body producing less as we age. Injected into different layers under the skin they can address from deep to mild wrinkles and can maintain the result between 1.5 to 24 months depending on longevity of the product.

Chemical skin peels:

Chemical skin peels can be used to treat mild soft wrinkles and generally  are good preventive  or maintenance treatments  for young and middle age skin. Depending on your skin concern, different depth and  types of chemical peels can be used and a course of 5-10 weekly or so sessions is needed.

Microneedling treatments:
